Founded by a local family with a lifelong dream, Pikes Peak Cinema is more than just an outdoor movie provider—it's a tribute to cherished family memories and a vision for the future. The inspiration for our journey dates back to treasured moments spent at drive-in theaters with loved ones. My mom and I dreamed of opening an outdoor cinema before she passed when I was 13 years old. In her memory, we are dedicated to making this dream a reality, bringing joy and togetherness to our community.

Our first shows were classic favorites like The Sandlot and The Princess Bride, shared with friends and family in our backyard. We started with a borrowed projector and a humble setup, projecting onto a large white sheet hung between two fence posts. Initially, sound was limited, with viewers needing to sit close to hear the movie.

In the beginning, it took about an hour each night to set up the screen. We experimented with various materials, from corrugated plastic to a spandex sheet tied to a metal frame. One of our happiest moments was when our family surprised us with a permanent plywood screen that didn’t have to be taken down after each show.

Our outdoor screening project officially began when we decided to bring the magic of movies to the stunning backdrop of Pikes Peak. Before this venture, we were passionate about sharing memorable events and wanted to extend that joy through cinema.

With our first inflatable screen, our traveling movie business hit the road. In addition to backyards, we've had regular screenings at various venues throughout Colorado Springs, including wedding venues, parks, and churches.

​

Our equipment has come a long way since the early days of a bed sheet screen and borrowed projector. We now have several inflatable screens in various sizes, high-quality sound systems, and super HD projection equipment.
